The Home Front Screening with Senator Jacqui Lambie – A Community Conversation on Veterans’ Issues

UPDATE: Our original venues for our screenings of The Home Front are now being used as emergency hubs to support people impacted by the floods, so we’ve had to make some changes.

However, we’re excited to share some big news: Senator Jacqui Lambie will now be joining us and be part of a Q&A following the screening!

Community independent candidate Caz Heise is hosting a special screening of The Home Front, a powerful documentary by Patrick Lindsay that highlights the challenges Australian veterans face as they transition to civilian life.

This event will provide a space for veterans and their families to share their experiences, discuss the findings of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, and explore where additional support is needed — particularly for veterans' families. It’s also an opportunity for members of the community to come together to better understand the experiences of veterans and the findings of the Royal Commission.

We are thrilled that:

  • Senator Jacqui Lambie will be joining this important conversation. As a veteran herself, Senator Lambie played a key role in securing the Royal Commission into Veteran Suicide and has been a tireless advocate for those who have served. Her insights will make this discussion even more powerful and meaningful. She will also be joined by veteran and NSW senate candidate Glenn Kolomeitz.
  • Patrick Lindsay, an acclaimed author, journalist, television presenter, and filmmaker, will also be joining us. He has written extensively about Australian soldiers, including the books The Spirit of Kokoda, Fromelles, and The Spirit of The Digger, and has produced documentaries such as Kokoda…the Bloody Track and Kokoda…The Last Parade. He was the founding director and Chairman of the Kokoda Track Foundation from 2006 to 2017 and was named a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2015.
  • A Q&A session will follow the screening, giving attendees the chance to engage directly with Senator Lambie, Patrick Lindsay, and local veterans to discuss the issues raised in the film and explore ways to better support those who have served.

Caz Heise, the community independent candidate for Cowper, is hosting this event to ensure that the voices of veterans and their families are heard. These screenings will help shape her advocacy and push for stronger government action.
